My Son is Using LingQ
My son, Kyle, started using LingQ this past week. He's eight years old and he's working on his French. He goes to French Immersion School but would like to improve his French since I think he feels he isn't understanding it as well as he would like.
I'm quite impressed that he has stuck with it. He says it fun! Of course, it helps that it's his Dad's website but he is genuinely enjoying it. I'm not saying he is at all day long but for an eight year old to want to study something online at all is saying something, as far as I'm concerned.
Anyway, I'm curious to see if he will stay with it. If he does, I'm sure he'll make a huge improvement.

Hi Mark,
It'll be interesting to know if your son stays studying with LingQ! That's good.
I hope he will still find contents of his interests. What a eight years old boy in general and yours in particular, is interested in?
Marianne
He is most interested in sports. Hockey is his favourite but content on any sports like news articles or interviews would probably be exciting for him. Right now he is studying Cendrillon and Puss in Boots (I don't know what this is called in French). So, kids stories are also good.
Puss in boots = Le chat botté ;)
Steve told me. If ever I can find other interesting contents...Thanks for the information. I should have guessed that boys are interested in sports :)

" Let's make a LingQ group of French language with me in near future!"
I found an interesting French podcast.

Hi Mark! I
Oops...my original message had been filtered...maybe use "modified" is correct.
Are you a software engineer? or a linguist?
what suggestion do u have for a hearing-impaired chinese guy to learn speak English? Is your system "LingQ" suitable for me as a profoundly hearing-impaired person?
One of my English tutors in Hong Kong did tell me that I would have to spend more than 10 years to learn Phonetics...then I might speak fluent English. It was a shock to me.
Thanks for your reply.
Why is there not availability for the course in Cantonese/ Mandarin at LingQ?
I am sure that you can speak fluent Cantonese like ur mum, but you don't look like a half-breed...
*Just take a tour of your system, the schedule turns me off...
Sorry that I will have not much time to try your system, as I will be very busy reviewing my notes for the CPA Australia exams, which will be held both in May and Oct 2008...four papers remaining.
I'm not sure what you mean by schedule.
The schedule of the course seems to be a little bit tight...is it necessary to follow the progress to finish all modules (hours of listening, words of reading, words of writing, hours of speaking) on time in order to meet the goals?
Some of my aussie mates told me that Cantonese is rather harder to learn than Mandarin. It is because Cantonese has nine tones while there are four tones for Mandarin.
